ABOUT THE MAUI WATERCOLORISTS ASSOCIATION (MWA)

The "Maui Watercolorists Association" (MWA) founded by Barbara Steinberg-Orlowski in May 2002, is an association for artists in the County of Maui who create in a variety of water-based media. MWA serves as venue for artists and art lovers to meet and it's purpose is to promote the advancement and appreciation of transparent and/or opaque watercolors (gouache). This includes transparent acrylic painting, water based colored pencils and pastels. MWA promotes activity and interest in the medium of Watercolor Art and reaffirms the permanence and the importance of watercolor as a medium in it's own right. Our aim is to educate the community on the value of water-based media through programs, workshops, and competitive art exhibitions.
